Plendil Alcohol

Plendil Alcohol interaction, generic name, is also sold under other brand names. These drugs belong to the family of drugs known as an Calcium Channel Blockers.

It is prescribed for the treatment of high blood pressure.

No drinking not even moderate alcohol consumption is advised while taking this drug. If used for children obviously no drinking.

At this time the medical community defines moderate consumption of alcohol as no more than two drinks per day and no more than 14 drinks per week. Anything more than that, is considered an unhealthy dependency on alcohol that may have adverse social, family and health consequences.

If a person drinks only once or twice a week but drinks on the same days each week and more than two drinks this is considered as an alcohol dependency.

If a person binge drinks at any time during the week this is also considered as alcoholism.

Some consider alcoholism as a disease while others consider it an addiction which is the result of personal choice and character fault. This school of thought blames the alcoholism on life style choices.

Personally I consider alcoholism a genetic tendency as I have seen families of alcoholics even when they live far apart. These unfortunate people are probably dependent on alcohol from the first drink.

When alcohol interacts with prescription over the counter drugs it usually results in negative health effects most especially liver damage as the main organ affected.

Before starting advise your physician of any allergies, if you have untreated or uncontrolled epilepsy, a bone marrow disorder, paralytic ileus, intestinal blockage, clozapine infection or immune suppression medication, heart disease, heart rhythm disorder, high blood pressure, history of heart attack or stroke, epilepsy, seizure, lung disease, liver disease, kidney disease, diabetes, bone marrow disorder, blood cell disorder, enlarged prostate, urinary problems, glaucoma or a history of smoking.

Considerations

Do not use if pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

Do not use if allergic to the drug.

Use carefully if you have severe liver disease.

Most Common Side Effects

Swelling in the ankles, feet or legs, dizziness, lightheaded, muscle weakness cramps, facial flushing or headache.

Less Common Side Effects

Respiratory infections, cough, tingling in the hands or feet, upset stomach, abdominal pains, chest pains, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, heart palpitations, sore throat, runny nose, back pain, rash, palpitations, sore throat, runny nose, back pain and rash.

Rare Side Effects

Facial swelling, rapid heartbeat, heart attack, low blood pressure, fainting, angina, abnormal heart rhythm, vomiting, dry mouth, stomach gas, anemia, muscle and joint pain, bone pain, depression, anxiety, sleepless, irritability, nervous, daytime tiredness, bronchitis, flulike symptoms, sinus irritation, breathing difficulties, nosebleeds, sneezing, itching, redness, bruising, sweating, blurred vision, ringing in ears, swelling of the gums, decreased sex drive, sexual difficulties, painful frequent urination.
