Intuniv and Alcohol
Intuniv generic name guanfacine is also sold under the brand name Tenex belongs to the family of drugs that reduce nerve impulses in your body. This drug is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children who are aged 6 to 17 years old
Since this drug is used for the treatment of ADHD in children the question of alcohol consumption is mute. It is suggested that you avoid becoming overheated or edehydtared during exercise and in hot weather.
Do not eat a high fat meal before taking this drug.
Before using this drug advise your physician if you are allergic to this drug, any other drug or substance, if you are pregnant, plan to be so or are breast feeding, if you have heart disease, heart block, low blood pressure, low heart rate, kidney disease, liver disease, have fainted.
Advise your physician if you regularly use other medicines, sedatives, narcotic pain relievers such as cold or allergy medicine, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, seizure medicine, depression, anxiety or psychiatric disorders.
Side Effects
Less serious side effects are drowsiness, dizziness, tired feeling, dry mouth, constipation, stomach pain, weight gain, headache or feeling irritable. If these occur call your physician for advice.
Serious side effects are severe allergic reaction such as hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue or throat, fast or slow heart rate, pounding heartbeat, chest tightness, numbness or tingling or feeling faint. If these occur get emergency medical help.
